Development and Peace, Solidarity Sunday Collection
November 1st, 2020
Development & Peace
Development and Peace is the official international development organization of the Catholic Church in Canada, established by the Canadian bishops in 1967. It is a member of the Vatican-based Caritas Internationalis and has a two-fold purpose: 1) to raise funds to support partners in the Global South who promote alternatives to unfair social, political and economic structures and 2) to educate the Canadian population about the causes of poverty and mobilize Canadians towards actions for change. Special Collection for Development and Peace
Bishop Bergie has announced a special collection for Development and Peace – Caritas Canada for Sunday November 1. Since our churches were closed in March, the usual Share Lent collection was not held. Thank you to the many people who made contributions directly to Development and Peace anyway through the Development and Peace website. Without your contributions, it would have been difficult for Development and Peace to continue operating through the summer months. Of course the needs of our sisters and brothers in the Global South continue especially now with the added ordeal of the COVID-19 virus, which impacts the world's poor even more than those of us lucky enough to live in Canada.
You can learn more about the Recovering Together campaign and make a contribution directly on the Development and Peace website by clicking this link
You can also contribute at church on Sunday November 1, or on another Sunday if you place your contribution in an envelope clearly marked for Development and Peace.
